We ripped up the old floor (it was really THREE old floor layers!) and this really cool looking original floor from the 1940's was underneath. The new floor went right over the original. This was easily the toughest part of the job so far...
(Somehow, Caleb's puppy made it onto the camera. Thanks Caleb!!!)

What are you guys doing??? That pattern is from the early 1960s, not 40s! Don't you know that the "Retro Kitchen" design is so hot right now???

All you needed was to keep that floor, apply a little Windex to your OLD cabinets, and BADA BING you guys would be so hip and ahead of the curve!
Forget about what the Jones' are doing!!! Be different!!!!
UGH!

Damon-Thanks for your thoughts! It's always a joy to hear your point of view!
We looked at the site you noted...the images of flooring similar to ours show dates way earlier than the 1960's. Those floors were made of asbestos, so BADA-BING we needed to cover it up so our life span is ahead of the curve!
Thanks for looking out, though...
I was a break dancer in the 80s. Trust me, I know linoleum!
